There have been several really nice PB&S related items on ebay recently which sold at good, or very good prices so I thought I'd share them with you. Apologies if you find this posting months after it was written as the link won't work. The early bird etc....
all were really lovely pieces that i would've wanted in my own collection - so, to the winning bidder. you lucky thing!

They are beautiful. how do you limit what to collect?
unfortunately, i didn't buy any of the items i've listed here. I would have loved to added them to my collection but i either missed them or they went too high for me. But with regards you're specific question, i tend to limit my collection to more decorative items such as vases, jugs and plates etc, unless it's a terribly rare thing and then i'll make an exception. Even though Bisto ware isn't as common as say, Wedgwood or Doulton, there are still plenty of basic items out there. I'm not particularly interested in buying very generic looking dinner services or basic plates or cups&saucers. This mass market fodder doesn't make for a terribly interesting collection for display, but of course, one might buy them to use or for academic study of a particular factory. For me, I often just keep a photographic record of those types of pieces for reference.
In my collection, handpainted items are always preferable to transfer ware and gilded items even more so. My own taste is drawn mainly to the Aesthetic period and some Deco pottery. The more chintzy / floral stuff is nice enough, but i don't buy a lot of it.
